Today marks the 101st anniversary of Finland's independence.
It is the day we adorn our windowsills with twin candles to honour those who gave their lives so that we could have our freedom. Brave heroes, who despite war and famine stayed strong and built this country into what it is today. We also celebrate the accomplishments of our people in the fields of art, music, sports, technology, education, social issues and so much more. We’ve come far, and have the potential to go even further with each passing generation. The task of building a country is a grand one that I can only hope will never come to an end. And I hope that once our part in it is done, the foundation we leave is sturdy enough to allow the next pioneers to rise even higher.
Onnea itsenäinen Suomi ja hyvää itsenäisyyspäivää kaikille!
